BGP, a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), started work in July on the S71 seismic survey under the terms of a contract awarded by Saudi Aramco. It had earlier embarked on two other surveys commissioned by the Saudi national oil company, S69 and S70, which began on 15 June and 1 June respectively. The Chinese company already won a contract from Saudi Aramco in 2009 for the S53, S63 and S64 seismic surveys. BGP points out that the contracts for the latest three surveys were signed on 1 November 2011.
