A new exploration tract called Ea, which is located in the south of Sudan, could be awarded to the Spanish company H Oil, the Minister of Industry and Mines of the Government of South Sudan (GOSS), Mr. John Luk, told Reuters. The minister explained that the block was created recently by Sudan's National Petroleum Commission (NPC) at H Oil's request. The area of the tract has not been disclosed. According to Mr. Luk, the block straddles four states in South Sudan and its geographical situation is particularly interesting since it adjoins Block B, which is operated by Total, Block 5A, where the Thar Jath field is in production, and Block C. Block B remains unexplored but is considered to have promising potential.
