Melrose pays us265 million to acquire Merlon Petroleum

Melrose announced on 13 April that it had entered into a conditional agreement for the acquisition of the entire common stock of the U.S.company Merlon Petroleum for us265 million in cash.The takeover is to be funded through a S320-million loan facility being advanced to Melrose by Bank of Scotland Corporate.Following this acquisition,Melrose will thus hold 100% interests in the El Mansoura and South East El Mansoura exploration concessions and in nine development leases in the region.
