The sixth international exploration bid round,which was launched in early October 2004,was the most successful since Algeria adopted this procedure for awarding new oil licenses in 2000.Nine of the 10 tracts on offer were assigned,corresponding to a success rate of 90%,whereas the previous record was 80%,achieved with the fifth bid round.The only block not to have found a taker this time is Bir Romane,in the Berkine basin.
