Development of Haradh and AFK Fields Will Add Capacity of 800,000 B/D by 2007

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Saudi Aramco,Mr.Abdallah Jum'ah,has reiterated that,with national production currently running at about 9 million b/d,Saudi Arabia accounts for about 12% of worldwide crude oil production and that its existing production capacity of 11 million b/d could "easily" be sustained for the next 50 years.Addressing the sixth Petrotech conference in New Delhi,Mr.Jum'ah added that,although some 1.5 million b/d of this was surplus capacity at the moment,"we have ambitious plans for stepping it up to 12 million b/d,and also have long-term oil development scenarios that should increase our production capacity to 15 million b/d."
