Redevelopment of the Onshore Bahrain Field Could Double its Production to 70,000 B/D

The redevelopment of the onshore Bahrain oilfield by international companies could result in its production being doubled to 70,000 b/d,according to the Minister of Oil and Gas,Mr.Abdul Hussein Mirza.The firms that are selected will have to start work by March 2008 and the first results could come through as early as the middle of next year,added Mr.Mirza.Talking to the local newspaper Akhbar al-Khaleej,the Minister explained that several bidders had included production target estimates in their bids and that the general terms of the proposed agreement covered the transfer of technology,the training of local staff,and giving priority to Bahraini contractors for the supply of materials and equipment.
