Reception, assessment and management of adolescents in the pediatric emergency department

In the emergency department, categorization of patients is necessary in order to respond as quickly as possible to the given problem. This is how we commonly speak of medical or surgical emergencies. A distinction is also made between "somatic" and "psychiatric" emergencies, but the line between them is not always clear. There are mixed situations, called "medico-psychosocial" situations, that are most likely to challenge the medical teams. The assessment of a teenager in the emergency department must be feasible by a general pediatrician confronted with the need for rapid decision and action.
