ExxonMobil's Oil Production in Africa Up to Nearly 700,000 B/D in the Third Quarter

Exxon Mobil Corporation's oil production(crude and natural gas liquids)in Africa continued its spectacular growth in the third quarter of this year,when it averaged 688,000 b/d,100,000 b/d more than in the corresponding quarter of 2004(see table below).Through the first nine months of 2005 as a whole,its production averaged 623,000 b/d,some 65,000 b/d above the level in the same period of 2004(558,000 b/d).Africa accounted for 25% of ExxonMobil's global oil production in January-September this year,as against 21.7% in the corresponding period of 2004.The increase in the African share was partly due to the sharp rise in the U.S.company's production on that continent,and partly to the drop in its production in the Gulf of Mexico,due to hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
