Increase in the Capacity of the Pedro Duran Farell Gasline Will Enable the Output of the In Salah Fields to Be Exported

The Mecheria compression station (SC3) was inaugurated on 15 February,as scheduled.Its start-up has increased the transport capacity of the Pedro Duran Farell Gasline (PDFG,or Maghreb-Europe gasline) linking Algeria to Spain via Morocco and the Mediterranean by 3 billion cu m/year to 12 billion cu m/year.Sonatrach points out that this new compression station will enable the output of the In Salah fields it is developing in conjunction with BP and Statoil to be exported.The In Salah fields are scheduled to enter production later this year (AOG,1 and 16 Feb.,2004).
