Total Could Sign a Contract with Qatargas II in Early 2005 for the Purchase of 5.2 Million Tons/Year of LNG

On the occasion of a gas conference in Barcelona,the Chief Executive of Qatargas,Mr.Faisal al-Suwaidi,disclosed that his company was in the final stages of negotiations with the French company Total for the sale of 5.2 million tons/year of liquefied natural gas(LNG),part of which is destined for Europe and the rest for the United States.In his speech to the conference,Mr.al-Suwaidi pointed out that Qatar's total LNG exports were due to reach 80 million tons/year by 2015,of which 30 million tons/year would be going to Europe.
