Oil Minister Rejects the Conclusions of Reports Predicting a Rapid Decline in Saudi Oil Production

Quoting the Chief Executive of the American investment bank Simmons & Co.,Mr.Matthew Simmons,the Wall Street Journal reported that Saudi Arabia might not preserve its predominance of the world oil market,since its production might start to decline over the coming decade.A second report published by Mr.Manouchehr Takin,of the Center for Global Energy Studies in London,pointed out that,while Saudi Arabia probably possesses additional oil reserves of 260 billion barrels,their extraction will become increasingly costly and complex.That view is shared by other experts cited by the New York Times on 23 February.
