Iraq's Decision to Implement the EITI Is a Significant Milestone Towards Greater Transparency in the Middle East, the Head of the EITFs International Secretariat, Jonas Moberg, tells AOG

On the occasion of a conference held in January to launch the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mr. Nouri al-Maliki, announced that Iraq intended to implement the EITI and that the country would submit its official application to adhere to the Initiative in February. The Iraqi decision prompted AOG to question Mr. Jonas Moberg, the Head of the EITPs International Secretariat, which is based in Oslo - see our interview with Mr. Moberg about the EITI in our edition of 1 October 2008.
