Shell Signs an Agreement for Studying Oil and Gas Development Projects

Royal Dutch Shell has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Syrian Ministry of Petroleum and Minerals covering cooperation in the study and implementation of oil and gas development projects.According to the official news agency Sana,the studies will focus on an evaluation of Syrian natural gas resources that are not yet being exploited,gas production,transportation and distribution,personnel training,and the scope for the long-term development of a gas liquefaction industry.The two sides will also examine the possibility of transforming Syria into a regional gas hub acting as an interface between Arab producing countries and centers of consumption in Turkey and Europe.The MOU is valid for a period of three years and could be renewed through a new agreement between the two sides.
