BP/Eni's Satis Discovery Estimated to-Contain Reserves of 1 Trillion Cu Ft of Gas

The Satis gas discovery announced in February (AOG, 16 Feb., 2008) on the North El Burg Offshore tract in the Nile delta, which is held by BP, operator with 50% in association with IEOC, a subsidiary of Eni (50%), is estimated to contain reserves of 1,000 billion cu ft (1 trillion cu ft), according to the President of Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), Mr. Mahmoud Latif. BP indicated in February that the discovery well was taken down to a depth of 6,500 meters, which is a record for the Nile delta, and that this was the first significant Oligocene structure discovered in the Egyptian offshore.
