BIC Guarantees the First Yen-Denominated Bonds Issued by Qatar Petroleum

Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) has signed a series of agreements covering the provision of a guarantee for the first yen-denominated bonds to be issued by Qatar Petroleum (QP), which are to be placed on the Japanese bond market (Samurai bonds). The JBIC guarantee will cover the principal and part of the interest payable on the bonds, representing a total of 85 billion yen ($1,076.33 million). JBIC explained that the joint lead arrangers for the issue would be Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities Co., Ltd., Daiwa Securities Co., Ltd., Mizuho Securities Co., Ltd., Nomura Securities Co., Ltd. and SMBC Nikko Securities Inc., with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation acting as administrator.
