MCUs and Virtualization in Zone E/E Architectures

More functions, but less load: The zone-oriented approach has advantages for the future electric-electronic vehicle structure. It requires, though, the integration of many functions into a few ECUs, which are then challenged in terms of performance, real-time behavior, and safety. Renesas and Etas describe how their common virtualization platform of MCUs, hypervisor, and development tools can simplify software implementation and thus shorten the step to new zone ECUs.
