20% of the Electricity Produced in Israel Over the Next 10 Years Will Be Generated by Power Stations Running on Egyptian Gas

The El Arish-Ashkelon gasline was brought into commercial operation on 1 May, it was announced by Israel Electricity Corporation (IEC) and Ampal-American Israel Corporation, one of the leading shareholders in East Mediterranean Gas (EMG). The 100-km gasline has a capacity of 7 billion cu m/year and will initially carry Egyptian gas for supply to the Ashdod and Tel-Aviv power stations.
