Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Give the Go-Ahead for Phase 2 of the Rabigh Complex at a Cost of $7 Billion

Saudi Aramco and its partner, the Japanese concern Sumitomo Chemical Company, have reported significant progress in the conduct of the feasibility study regarding the second phase of the development of the Rabigh refining-and-petrochemical complex, Rabigh II, and have decided to go ahead with the expansion of the complex. The two companies are partners in a joint venture called Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Company (Petro Rabigh), which owns and operates the existing Rabigh I complex. The feasibility study and FEED (front-end engineering and design) work for Rabigh II were carried out and funded jointly by Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo.
