IIPIC and Oman Oil Company Set Up a Joint Venture to Develop a Refining-Petrochemical Complex at Duqm

International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC), which is controlled by the state of Abu Dhabi, and Oman Oil Company (OOC) have announced the formation of a 50:50% joint venture for the development and operation of a refining-and-petrochemical complex at Duqm, in the Sultanate of Oman. Known as Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries LLC, the new company will develop a complex in two phases, the first of which will entail the construction of a refinery with a capacity of 230,000 barrels/day that is due to come on stream in 2017. The petrochemical plant will be added in the second phase.
