Total Has Launched the Fourth and Final Phase of Development for the Discoveries on Deepwater Block 17

Total, operator of deepwater Block 17, started work in August on the CLOV development project, which represents the fourth and final phase of development of the 15 discoveries made on the tract. The three earlier development hubs were Girassol, Dalia and Pazflor in that order (all the discoveries on Block 17 have been given the Portuguese names of flowers). Girassol and Dalia are in production, while Pazflor is still at the development phase and is due to enter production in 2011. The CLOV project encompasses the Cravo, Lirio, Orquidea and Violeta fields, which contain proven and probable reserves of an estimated 500 million barrels, according to the French company. Production is expected to reach 160,000 b/d in the plateau phase. The Girassol and Dalia hubs produced 220,000 b/d and 240,000 b/d of crude in 2009, while Pazflor could have a production capacity of 220,000 b/d.
