Tehran Has Suggested to Gulf Arab Countries that They Develop and Exploit Shared Fields Jointly

The development of fields shared with neighboring countries is one of the priorities of Iranian energy policy. According to National Iranian Offshore Oil Company (NIOOC), there are 13 such fields in the Gulf. The Managing Director of NIOOC, Mr. Mahmood Zirakchianzade, told the official Shana news agency that the company had offered the countries concerned joint participation in the development and exploitation of these fields, instead of allowing the rationale of competition to take precedence.
