GE Energy Concludes 16-Year Service Agreement with Qatalum to Ensure Reliable Power Supply

GE Energy announced on 6 August that it had signed a long-term service agreement with Qatalum providing for it to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the power supply to the aluminum smelter that Qatalum is building at Messaid, describing it as a "critical" factor for the success of the project. Qatalum is a 50:50% joint venture between Qatar Petroleum (QP) and Hydro of Norway and is developing a smelter with a capacity of 585,000 tons/year.
