Eni Has its License for Block 403 Renewed and Reiterates its Intention of Expanding its Operations in Algeria

The Italian energy group Eni disclosed on 3 October that it had signed an agreement with Sonatrach for the renewal of its license covering Block 403 in the Bir Rebaa region. The fields in production on the tract are producing about 23,000 boe/d of hydrocarbons, while Eni's total production capacity in Algeria amounts to 90,000 boe/d. The Italian company maintains that this agreement is confirmation of its strategic partnership with Sonatrach and also provides an additional incentive for strengthening cooperation between the two companies. On the same occasion, Eni reiterated that its strategy involved expanding its exploration-production activities in Algeria.
