US physical coal markets were mostly flat last week, with inventories still high and natural gas prices falling. Power companies are “very hesitant” about buying coal as they work through large stockpiles built up last year because of the warmer-than-average winter and low natural gas prices, Vectren Energy chief executive Carl Chapman said last week.
