Saudi Aramco to Embark Shortly on the Construction of Gas Facilities at the Arabiyah and Shaybah Fields

Saudi Aramco has reportedly decided to undertake the development of the Arabiyah non-associated gas field, which was discovered in January (AOG, 16 Jan., 2009), as well as the construction of a natural gas liquids (NGLs) recovery plant at the Shaybah oil field. Contractors quoted by Reuters indicated that contracts for the preliminary design and engineering work for the two projects were to be awarded in September. This phase would be completed in the second quarter of 2010, after which tenders would be issued for the main works contracts.
