Uptrend may persist in North Africa

Manganese alloy prices went up in North Africa in September on steady demand and growing production costs (owing to higher Mn ore prices). SiMn (65 Mn, 16 Si) is now available at $1,070-1,130/t CIF (+5 month-on-month), while HC FeMn (75 Mn) is quoted at $1,190-1,210/t CIF (+2 m-o-m). North African FeMn (75 Mn) suppliers, who have been keeping up the prices for the last several months, were forced to back down. As a result, the offers of North African FeMn dropped by 7 to EGP 24,600/t DDP ($1,375/t).
