Canberra vows to speed up project approvals

Australia’s new conservative-led coalition government has promised to speed up project approvals for coal, iron ore and natural gas projects in Queensland, Western Australia (WA) and New South Wales (NSW) states. The Liberal-National coalition’s environment minister Greg Hunt has promised to fast track 50 coal, iron and gas ore projects that he said were left without any clear regulatory approval path by his predecessor Labor’s Tony Burke.
