Manganese ore quotes to keep climbing until late autumn

After the increase in late August amid favorable market outlook, SiMn prices have rolled back in China in early September, mostly due to a similar trend in the exchange market (the alloy futures have lost 3 on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange) rather than changes in consumption. Nonetheless, the alloy was available in the physical market at RMB 8,600-8,800/t EXW on September 21, which is at least RMB 100/t higher than in August. Meanwhile, local port traders are keeping manganese ore quotes up after the 9 increase in August and offering minimal discounts.
