European FeSi prices not to experience significant fluctuations

European FeSi (75 Si) prices dropped to EUR 1,392/t DDP in September, down a mere 0.5 on average. FeSi quotes in quarterly contracts fell by EUR 50/t compared to June tender campaign. - FeSi prices remained stable in China in September. On the one hand, flat quotes stem from uncertain prospects of steelmakers' ferroalloys consumption ahead of the heating season and production limitations attributed to it. On the other hand, FeSi suppliers did not have enough alloy in stock to give discounts. A likely softening in environmental restrictions this year, resulting from the delegation of the restriction formation from China's central authorities to local ones, may favour a more moderate drop in ferroalloy consumption in winter, by Metal Expert's estimate. However, environmental inspections in Ningxia province, which could have become a speculative reason for a price increase, did not begin, so FeSi supply in China is likely to remain unchanged.
