European manganese alloy prices may come up on higher raw material quotes and stronger demand

Prices have been stable in Europe in August amid seasonally low demand and comparatively high inputs. SiMn (65 Mn; 17 Si) and FeMn (75 Mn) have been offered at respectively EUR 975/t DDP and EUR 970/t DDP, up a mere EUR 2/t. - The first Q4 purchases have been made in the middle of August, with a number of big German steelmakers buying Ukrainian SiMn, which is quite early. By Metal Expert's estimate, end user demand for manganese alloys will be firm during the September contracting due to a seasonal upturn in steel output. Sellers, in turn, will cite more expensive manganese ore.
