Manganese alloy prices to keep sliding in Europe

Manganese alloy prices have again dropped in Europe in August amid low business activity, as the average price for SiMn (65 Mn; 17 Si) and HC FeMn (75 Mn) was at EUR 855/t and EUR 845/t respectively, down EUR 25/t month-on-month. The Q4 contracting is supposed to start in September, and it will be quite hard for sellers to raise prices. The volume of the requested material, which has already been supplied for the next quarter, is largely unchanged from that supplied in early Q3 when the consuming industry was recovering from the pandemic. Besides, the industry is rather slow to revive, with the output losing 20-25 year-on-year.
