US coal production totaled 84.36 million tons during the four weeks ending Oct. 29, a slight decline from the same period last year. US mines produced 35.94 million tons during the period ending Oct. 30, 2004, 1.8 pct more than during the most-recent period. Overall, the US has mined 927 million tons so far this year, 0.7 pct ahead of last year.
