Northeast spot markets fell as generation costs were reduced as more than half of the natural gas knocked out by Hurricane Katrina came back. Most Eastern hubs outside of New York City were down 18 pct. In the Midwest, Cinergy was off 8 pct and northern Illinois 14 pct. Southern and Western spot markets were both about 22 pct weaker.
