Gas production worries outweigh storage overhang

The forward natural gas curve remains firm despite the storage overhang, due to both rising demand from utilities and concerns about production capacity. Gas prices can diverge significantly and for long periods from a level that would bring supply and demand in balance, one consultant said recently. Ron Denhardt, vice-president at Strategic Energy & Economic Research, also said that fundamentals have their greatest downside impact when working gas storage is close to capacity.
