Gas futures surge, cash market steady

Natural gas futures were up this week from last, despite the persistent gas storage surplus. Gas for July delivery rose over 9 pct from last week as the June contract expired. The gas curve tightened to only a 4 pct gain in January 2006 trading from last week.
