The value of second-hand dry bulk carriers dropped by 25pc inthe first quarter of 2016, spurring the sale of 168 second-handships — the most in a single quarter since 2Q14 — according toshipping consultancy MSI.MSI valued a five-year old Capesize ship at $22mn in thefirst quarter of the year, well below the previous record lowof $27mn in 2002 and the level of $29mn in the last quarter of2015, while vessels of other ages showed similar declines.
