BNSF plans to reset the strike price on its fuel surcharge for its coal shipments, acknowledging that current fuel pricing trends make it unlikely the price of diesel will dip significantly for some time. The railroad also announced plans for a compensation program should the price of diesel fall below the strike price. The railroad said it is making the change to reflect fuel pricing trends that on a sustained basis have averaged above 2.50 dollars/gallon since 2005.
