India's electricity regulator has allowed private-sector producers Tata Power and Adani Power to raise prices and receive compensation for high costs of some imported coal. A separate ruling could hit the firms' state-run rival NTPC. The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Cere) said Adani and Tata can increase electricity tariffs and receive compensation from state utilities for losses incurred from importing coal at thermal generation units in Gujarat in western India.
