Fleet supply for the dry bulk shipping sector has grown rapidly in the past two years to high levels that are expected to remain elevated for 12 months. The dry bulk fleet has grown by 14.3pc so far this year, with Capesizes accounting for the biggest share of new deliveries at 50pc, Sophocles Zoullas, chief executive officer of Eagle Bulk Shipping, said in discussing his company's third-quarter results this month.
