Lawyers for rail shippers expect the Surface Transportation Board to act in some way after its hearings this year on rail competition and exempt traffic, not with any drastic change in policy but possibly testing ideas on a small scale. The Association of Transportation Law Professionals (ATLP) held its annual fall meeting at the Surface Transportation Board (STB) headquarters in Washington, DC, yesterday, and leading practitioners of railroad law spent nearly seven hours going over major legal issues facing railroads and their shippers.
