Heavy rain and high winds have restricted coal exports from the Australian port of Newcastle, with throughput down 14.4pc from a week earlier to around 2.02mn t in the week ending 16 January. This is the fourth week in a row that exports out of Newcastle have fallen, after the port hit a record 2.95mn t in the week ending 19 December.
