South32 boosts quarterly South African output

Australian resources firm South32 increased its South Africanthermal coal exports by 11pc to 4.13mn t in July-Septemberfrom 3.74mn t a year earlier.Domestic coal sales fell 4pc to 4.25mn t over the sameperiod and were 2.5pc lower compared with 4.36mn t inApril-June.Total thermal coal production from the firm’s SouthAfrican mines rose by 3pc to 8.29mn t in July-Septemberfrom 8.03mn t in the same period last year, reflecting theimpact of planned maintenance and the sequencing ofactivity at the Wolvekrans Middelburg complex.
