Cerrejon union lowers demands, meets government

The union of Colombia’s largest coal mine Cerrejon has lowered its demands, while the government continues mediating to resolve a strike that enters its eighth day. The Sintracarbon union is now requesting a 5.77pc salary increase for this year, which is lower than the 7pc demanded previously, Sintracarbon president Igor Diaz told Argus. The company had offered a 5.1pc increase for this year, slightly higher than the previous 5pc.
