Maputo TCM terminal expansion nears completion

Maputo’s coal facility Terminal de Carvao de Matola (TCM) is completing its expansion this month, increasing its coal and magnetite stockpiles and throughput. The 3.5 phase is to be completed by the end of July, lifting the terminal’s stockpile capacity to 610,000t from around 440,000t. The port currently has an export capacity of around 7.3mn t with the current product mix (thermal coal and magnetite). Last year, TCM exported 4.1mn t of coal, but exports are likely to reach up to 6mn t this year.
