Coal output in the key Chinese province of Shanxi fell in April as mining firms reduced activity in line with government efforts to combat oversupply. The province’s output fell by 3.5pc year on year to 73.2mn t in April, according to data from the Shanxi statistics bureau. Coal production in the fist four months of this year was 277.8mn t, down by 4.5pc from the same period of last year.
