PRB runs higher in OTC coal trade

Coal from the Powder River Basin ran higher today, with the 2007 delivery trading to within a tick of 10.00 dollars/ton, boosted by energy-market bargain hunting and concerns over rail capacity in the East. Throughout the energy rally of 2004 and 2005, the market for PRB coal has languished, capped by ample production and troubled rail service. Each factor looms smaller now, with demand for the region's coal being seen further East soaking up supplies while rail service continues to recover from a difficult May and June.
