Germany’s Eon to restart Staudinger coal plant

German utility Eon is set to return its 510MW hard coal-fired Staudinger 5 to service this week, after an explosion forced the unit off line in May last year. Eon is running the Staudinger 5 unit in test mode today from 10:00 to 20:00 CET, according to a filing to the transparency website operated by the European Energy Exchange (EEX). The unit is then expected to restart commercial operations on 16 January, data on the transparency website shows.
