Prices of most Asia-Pacific coal grades increased this week, supported by tight fresh supplies and heavy rainfall in Indonesia’s Kalimantan province. Prices of 6,000 kcal/kg coal sold on a fob Newcastle basis rose by $4.84/t to $62.84/t, pushed higher by a shortage of fresh high-grade coal supply. Most producers in the country were sold out for February shipments and cargoes for March loading were fast selling out.
