The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) expects compliance with requirements for year-round NOx emissions controls, an agency official recently told Argus, after generators took dramatic steps to decrease emissions rates early in the year. This is the first year that generators have been required to control NOx on an annual basis, and EPA saw a striking decline in emissions rates in the first quarter, particularly from the coal-fired sector, said Sam Napolitano, director of EPA's Clean Air Markets Division.
