Treatment charges (TCs) for spot lead concentrates continued to fall in May while arbitrage-fueled demand from smelters in China continues to cause friction with strained supply chains, sources said. The TCs paid for zinc concentrate, which had been rising in recent weeks, began to level out at the end of the month, sources said. While mining companies across the globe are beginning to overcome pandemic-related disruptions, soaring freight rates and rising working capital costs for the industry mean more concentrate is being produced but spot availability remains limited.
